Who I Am...

My name is Mitch Geier.   I feel that  we can make a real difference in our community and am asking for your help.

I Am  ...

A Business Owner living and working in Plumsted
    (my company's web site http://www.cecg.com.)

We developed and produce Critter Corner weekly to find homes for animals you might have seen it in the news papers. Click here for the Critter Corner archives.

Chairman of the Plumsted Council of the Arts
A Member of the Plumsted Drug and Alcohol Alliance
A Board Member of Hands Across New Jersey
President of Citizens for Better Education

Since Moving to our Community, I...

bullet

have routinely attended Township Committee meetings and been actively involved in issues affecting our community;

bullet

was appointed by the Township Committee to the Council for the Arts and was then elected to Chair this extremely successful committee

bullet

was appointed by the Township Committee to the Drug and Alcohol Alliance

bullet

have been actively involved in efforts to revive our dying downtown area and was instrumental in bringing in Main Street NJ to assist with this effort; I have since become disenchanted with the direction that the current administration has taken the redevelopment effort. We cannot sell out our town to big developers.

bullet

am committed to the issue of providing our downtown area with sewers, as this issue has languished for years.

bullet

was instrumental in having the recycling center open on Wednesdays (a successful program that has made money for the town and yet was stopped after daylight savings time instead of adjusting the hours of operation. This is not out of the box thinking from our township officials). Since this original posting they decided to adjust the hours.

I Believe ...

bullet

The Abuse of Power displayed by our elected officials must stop.

bullet

Taxpayers have the right to know how their Tax Dollars are Spent

bullet

Taxpayers should not be directly paying for the downtown redevelopment

bullet

Uncontrolled Residential Sprawl will:
Overburden our Roads, Schools and Public Services
Destroy the Character of our Community

bullet

Sewers for our downtown should be funded by Grants — Not by Selling Out Our Town to big developers

bullet

· Taxes can be Stabilized by attracting new clean business to the light industrial zone

bullet

· Elected Officials should provide Honest, Open, Responsive and Responsible Leadership

bullet

· We all have a responsibility to seek Answers and Accountability from elected officials

bullet

We must reduce our skyrocketing property taxes

bullet

Preserving the rural character of our community is essential to its future

bullet

Excellence in township services, while keeping our taxes low;

My Vision

ü    Lower property taxes NOW!

ü    Attract desirable ratables to reduce property taxes and bring much needed services to our community.

ü    Develop a strategic master plan to preserve our quality-of-life.

ü    Represent every citizen as if they were “friends and family.”

ü    Bring fiscal responsibility back to local government.

ü    Homeowners can no longer be our municipalities ATM.

My Personal Life…

I moved to Plumsted Township approximately in 1999  after spending much of my life in Old Bridge, New Jersey.  My fiancée now my wife and I were looking for a community that would provide us with an excellent quality-of-life and where we could spend the rest of our lives.  We believe we have found that home here in our community.

I own a computer-consulting firm, CECG, Inc., that has been in business since 1978.  I have been actively involved in my community for years.

I am an animal lover.  My wife, Betsy, and I have a “family” of ten (some special needs) pets. I have been rescuing birds for over 30 years,  (taking in hurt and injured birds and rehabilitating them.) Now we are also volunteering at THe Ocean County Animal Shelter and also assisting other rescue groups to get funding and medications for their animals.

In my early 20’s, I was a professional magician and still perform occasionally for the joy of it.  If you happen to see someone in a local restaurant making balloon animals for children – that’s probably me. I previously put on a free Halloween magic show  for the children of the community to honor the magicians who came before me and are no longer with us. Unfortunately I had to stop doing this due to a back injury.

I am an amateur photographer who has won a number of awards for my work and I have a dark room in my home. I have opened the dark room to other organizations and  photography students at no charge.  I served as Chairperson of our Plumsted Township Council for the Arts as an offshoot of my love for photography and all the arts.
