Democratic Club Plans Listening Session for Plumsted Citizens
The Plumsted Township Regular Democratic Club is planning a series of Listening Sessions for the community. The first in a series of Listening Sessions will be held 7:30 PM, Thursday, May 29 at the Plumsted Presbyterian Church. While the entire public is welcome, this first Listening Session will focus on the issues and concerns of citizens who rent and/or who live in mobile home communities.
The Club will also have the Democratic candidates running for Township committee, Mitch Geier and Donald Knause, available to meet the public. Geier and Knause are running for the two open seats on the committee on a campaign slogan of “A Change for the Better.”
“The Democratic Club feels it is imperative that we connect with the citizens to hear their issues and concerns, says Knause. One of the reasons Mitch and I are running in this election is because we don’t feel the current administration is hearing what concerns the average resident.”
Geier adds, “We are committed to representing each and every member of our community. We reject the ‘friends and family’ policy of the current administration and believe that every citizen should be represented and treated as if they were friends and family.”
Knause explains, “We want to understand the issues that are of most concern to the citizens in our community. We think that by targeting each Listening Session we can better delve into the issues and understand them more completely.”
“We have already identified several key issues that are important to us and to the residents we have spoken with to date, adds Geier. Our skyrocketing property taxes are a huge concern. Developing and implementing a strategic plan for our community to plan for the inevitable growth that will occur is key to maintaining our rural quality of life is another important issue. And, addressing the lack of sewers in our downtown area is long overdue. We want to hear from as many members of our community as we can to better understand their views and concerns.”
Any Plumsted residents who are interested in attending and want more information about the Listening Session can feel free to contact the Club directly. Don Knause, President of the Club, can be reached at 758-2076. Mitch Geier, Vice President of the Club, can be reached at 758-1111 (est. 5).
